Devshayani Ekadashi, also known as Ashadhi Ekadashi or Padma Ekadashi, is one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar. It falls on the Ekadashi (11th lunar day) of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashadha (June-July). This day marks the beginning of Chaturmas, the sacred four-month period when Lord Vishnu enters his cosmic slumber on the Ksheer Sagar (Ocean of Milk).

Why Devshayani Ekadashi Is Spiritually Powerful

According to ancient scriptures, Devshayani Ekadashi is the day when Lord Vishnu, the sustainer of the universe, goes into a deep yogic sleep (Yoga Nidra) for four months. During this period, all auspicious marriages and major events are put on hold, symbolizing an inward journey and spiritual reset.

This time is ideal for:

  • Deep inner work and sadhana (spiritual practice)

  • Detoxing the mind and body

  • Starting a new habit or spiritual discipline

  • Manifestation through intention-setting and divine alignment

Benefits of Observing Devshayani Ekadashi Vrat

  • Cleanses karmic baggage

  • Promotes peace, clarity, and healing

  • Strengthens your connection with Lord Vishnu and Lakshmi

  • Helps one manifest desires by syncing with cosmic sleep and rebirth energies

  • Ensures prosperity, protection, and inner harmony

Devshayani Ekadashi Rituals for Manifestation & Spiritual Upliftment

1. Ekadashi Vrat (Fasting)

  • Observe a complete or partial fast, ideally without grains or pulses

  • Consume sattvic foods like fruits, milk, sabudana, or coconut water

  • Refrain from violence, anger, gossip, or any form of negativity

2. Wake Up Early & Take a Sacred Bath

  • Bathe before sunrise using tulsi-infused or sandalwood water

  • Wear clean white or yellow clothes (symbolizing purity and light)

3. Altar Setup and Vishnu Puja

  • Light a ghee lamp near an image or idol of Lord Vishnu reclining on Sheshnag

  • Offer Tulsi leaves, yellow flowers, and homemade prasad (preferably sweet or sattvic)

  • Recite or listen to:

    • Vishnu Sahasranama

    • Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya (108 times)

    • Padma Purana or Bhagavad Gita Chapter 15

4. Tulsi Worship

Tulsi is dear to Lord Vishnu. Offer water and light a diya near the Tulsi plant. Chant:

"Tulasi amritajanmasi sada tvam Keshavapriya"

This pleases Vishnu and helps in wish fulfillment.

5. Write Your Sankalp (Intention)

  • Take a fresh sheet and write your manifestation wishes clearly

  • Pray with deep gratitude and visualize your desires as already fulfilled

  • Fold the paper and place it on your altar or under Vishnu’s feet

6. Night Vigil or Vishnu Bhajan

  • Staying awake at night and chanting bhajans or meditating is considered highly meritorious

  • It's said that the divine energy is highly receptive to prayers on this night.

Manifestation Tips for Devshayani Ekadashi

  1. Use Blue or Yellow Candles: Light them while meditating or praying to amplify intentions.

  2. Chant “Om Vishnave Namah” 108 times focusing on your heart chakra.

  3. Visualize Lord Vishnu blessing your home and dreams.

  4. Keep a “wish jar” with a Tulsi leaf inside as a symbol of your sacred prayer.

  5. Avoid distractions, gossip, or indulgence – stay in a calm, clean, and high-frequency environment.

Conclusion

Devshayani Ekadashi is not just a ritualistic observance but a portal of divine alignment and soul renewal. By honoring this day with sincerity and devotion, you invite blessings of protection, peace, and prosperity for the entire year. It’s a powerful time to let go, go inward, and reset your life with intention.

May Lord Vishnu bless you with a blissful Chaturmas and fulfilled manifestations.
